Who We Are

Mangoe Arts & Framing is an independent arts and picture framing business located at Houston Station, in the heart of Nashville's thriving Wedgewood-Houston district. Family owned and operated, we offer a comprehensive array of arts related services including custom picture framing, art restoration, art installation, gallery wall composition, arts consultation, original art, and mural work — alongside a programme of community events that reflect our deep roots in Nashville's creative community. Every project that comes through our door is handled personally, with the time and attention it deserves.

History

Mangoe Arts & Framing was founded in Nashville in 2018 by Robert Jones, drawing on more than a decade of professional experience in the arts. Built on a commitment to hand-finished picture frames and conservation-led practice, the business grew client by client through the quality of its work. In 2025 the business underwent a rebrand, taking its new name from Robert's longstanding artistic pseudonym "Mangoe", better aligning the brand with its focus on Nashville's arts community. This coincided with a relocation to the burgeoning Wedgewood-Houston neighbourhood.

Craftsmanship

At Mangoe Arts & Framing we are committed to the ongoing development of traditional craft skills — hand carving, gesso and bole preparation, water gilding, oil gilding, and the finishing techniques that give a frame its final character. These are methods that take years to develop and are increasingly rare in an industry that has largely moved toward factory production. We source hand-finished mouldings from independent makers worldwide, finish many frames in house, and hold ourselves to conservation standards used by leading museums and private collections across Nashville and beyond.

Community

We believe that the value of a small business is rooted in its connection to the community. Mangoe Arts & Framing is an active proponent of Nashville's arts ecosystem, advocating for equitable arts funding, participating in community events, and funding local causes. As of 2025 that support has totalled over $15,000, directed toward organizations including Oasis Center and Femme Gallery, a queer focused arts space that provided a platform to underserved voices. Robert Jones serves as Arts Editor at Nashville Interiors Magazine, and Chairperson of the Germantown Historic Arts Committee.

Future

Mangoe Arts & Framing are currently developing our own line of handcrafted picture frames — designs rooted in the historical evolution of framing as a craft, and executed using techniques that are increasingly rare in contemporary production. Beyond that, we have a number of projects in development that reflect our broader commitment to Nashville's arts community — spanning publishing, programming, digital resources, and original art work. Mangoe Arts & Framing is a young business with a long view. The traditions we work within took centuries to develop, and we intend to be part of passing them forward.
